Gennadiy Bazarov

Director

Film director and screenwriter, born 14 May 1942 in At-Bashi. He graduated from the VGIK directing faculty (1965) and joined Kyrgyzfilm in 1966. His feature debut was Mother's Field (1967), based on Chingiz Aitmatov's novella. His films include Ambush, The Street, The First, Shelter for Adults and Anomaly. Honored Art Worker of the Kirghiz SSR (1974) and People's Artist of the Kyrgyz Republic. He died in February 2023.
