Tolomush Okeyev

Screenwriter, Director

Film director and screenwriter, born 11 September 1935 in Bokonbaevo. He graduated in sound engineering from LIKI (1958) and from the Higher Directing Courses (1966), and began as a sound engineer at Kyrgyzfilm. His films include The Sky of Our Childhood, The Worship of Fire, The Ferocious One, The Red Apple, Ulan, The Descendant of the Snow Leopard. People's Artist of the USSR (1985). Ambassador to Turkey from 1993. Died in Ankara in December 2001; Kyrgyzfilm has borne his name since 2002.
